Living at 90 Christopher Columbus has been an absolute delight for the past five years.. The combination of superb amenities, friendly community, and a convenient location has made this place a true haven to call home.
The attention to detail in the construction and maintenance of these units is evident, as everything feels modern, clean, and well-maintained. The in-unit appliances and fixtures are of high quality, making daily living a breeze.
The management and staff at 90 Christopher Columbus are exceptional. They go above and beyond to ensure residents are well taken care of. Maintenance requests are handled promptly and efficiently, and the leasing office staff is always friendly and professional. They create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that truly makes you feel like part of a community.
The amenities at this complex are outstanding. The fitness center is well-equipped, allowing residents to stay active without the need for an expensive gym membership. The on-site parking is convenient, and the security measures in place provide a sense of safety and peace of mind.
One of the standout features of 90 Christopher Columbus is its unbeatable location. Situated in a vibrant neighborhood, there are numerous restaurants, shops, and entertainment options within walking distance. Public transportation options are also easily accessible, making commuting a breeze. The proximity to parks and green spaces adds an extra touch of natural beauty to the surroundings.
Overall, I highly recommend 90 Christopher Columbus as a fantastic place to live. The combination of exceptional apartments, attentive staff, top-notch amenities, and a great location makes it a standout choice. My five-year journey here has been nothing short of incredible, and I wouldn't hesitate to renew my lease for many more years to come
Fabulous view from the 46th floor. We can see Manhattan and the Statue of liberty! Great apartment! The kitchen has great storage for the size! Love the layout!
If I could give this apartment a zero star, I will.
The only advantage of this apartment is close to PATH, and that's it. The apartment sits at the intersection of Marin Blvd and Columbus Dr, which means this is a very very busy road and you will hear loud fire stuck and police coming by at least 5 times each day. Not to mention weekend farmer's market live music or motorcycles passing by in the midnight. If you want to live in a quiet place, this is definitely not your choice.
The apartment itself is made with cheap materials. Just before the day we moved in to the apartment last year, the management office informed us there was a serious water leak in the building and our apartment was among these affected ones. They said you could use bathroom in other vacant apartments. However, one hour later they said unfortunately there was no vacant apartment in this building and you have to bear a big trash can sitting in your bathroom. It took them a whole week to repair the water leak and repaint walls. Also, there were a lot of scratches on the wall and dirty toilet when I moved in, which means they didn't go through the cleaning process after last tenant moved out.
AC is super noisy and useless. I have to keep AC on all the time during winter time but I still feel cold. It can never be fixed by the maintenance team. Electric bill is around $200 during these month. The wall is super thin and you can nearly hear every word from your neighbors. I do not live at an end unit, which means I will hear sounds from neighbors on both sides. Not to mention your neighbor plays loud music, invites tons of friends coming for party in the midnight.
The apartment building is insecure as other reviewer mentioned. The doorman is only responsible for receiving packages, asking delivery guys to sign, and that's it. It also takes them a day to organize packages received during the daytime. Also, 90 Columbus lobby is full of unpleasant smells, it is a mixture of sewer and trash can smell, and you will see a lot of dead lattenfly on the ground.
Great location (right above Grove Street Path Station); 5mins walk to great schools (OLC, etc); summers are fun (Pool, BBQ, Movie Nights & more); great maintenance staff (led by Mr. Jose Quintero) that keeps building super clean; concierge staff is super friendly; UPS/USPS/FedEx pick-up facilities; great amenities & it’s a pet heaven with private dog park!! In my 7 year old’s words “I love this building 🤩!”
This is an amazing place to live! Not only does the building give you the sense that you're living in a beautifully decorated and high scale well maintained building but amenities are amazing! They have an indoor playroom brimming with educational and interactive Melissa and Doug toys, books and on the move toys, and an outdoor space that contains about 4 outdoor spaces in one! I can't wait till summer, just to lounge by the pool or sit on the benches under the trees, or grill on the fancy bbq grills available in another area next to the pool! But the best part is that whoever is hiring the team there, truly has a talent for choosing folk who are as friendly as they are professional and helpful- Lucy, a member of their leasing office, must have answered at least 30 questions from my end before we moved in, and she always answered with the same willingness to help and the same friendly tone! John helped us feel so welcome and heard during the apartment inspection, and the folk at the front desk seem to be related to Lucy because they are just as friendly and attentive. I am very happy with my decision to join this community. I now understand why some people never buy homes and live in a building community forever!
I lived here for 3 years already. The apartment is great with awesome views. Management is responsible and very friendly. I would give 100 stars if I can!
Staff is so nice but the building is understaffed. They didn’t plan enough space for packages (right now presumably high because of holidays), but boxes are always over flowing and easy to be stolen. Delivery men often don’t come up because no one is at desk or line is too long. You have to wait in line to pick up your stuff. Again, friendly staff but the management doesn’t want to spring for another person. Major security concerns as well because anyone can walk past particularly when no one is at desk. Thank heavens for Justin, the front desk attendant who keeps his cool and does a good job despite what seems like a very tough job to be on top of.
UPDATE: read the other reviews and I must agree with mostly all issues I see other people having. I totally forgot that I’ve notified the building via phone and their requested maintenance portal that the SECURITY DOOR which you need a key fob to open because it has unmonitored access from the garage DIDNT LOCK. They said they fixed but weeks later it isn’t fixed! You don’t need the key fob to enter any of the “secured” doors because the door hinges don’t work. Therefore anyone can walk into the building or the amenity rooms!
At such an expensive building, why is management so poor/cheap?
The property was managed by Allied 9 years ago when I moved in. The current management company, Ironstate cuts corners and charges fees that were never agreed upon with former management.
A lot went wrong in the building over the course of new management.
1. One of our lobby attendants was only allowed to work in the parking garage after an incident. This is awkward because we would see her in the different role because she publicly lost other responsibilities.
2. The mold in the building is an extreme problem. It's due to unkept plumbing that causes drains to gurgle and produce sewerage into your apartment. It also causes floods and major damage.
3. This damage caused by the building was apparently my responsibility because when I moved, I was charged for it.
4. The pool in July is occasionally warm when it opens. By September it barely has water, is dirty and cold. There's no supervisor that controls the amenities and so lifeguards don't know how to heat the pool. Grills are broken and you have to ask someone to light them for you. So if that person is on a break or doing something else, you can wait up to 30 mins to begin your grill.
5. Off leash dogs are everywhere. There's a long term tenant who continues to behave like the entire building is his alone. His dog is never on a leash and he solicits dog walking services very loudly to every neighbor. That is, there are few boundaries or personal space.
6. Since moving, the building has charged me over 1K after the neighbors apartment flooded. The water never dried and mold was out of control. I always paid rent on time and had 5 floods in the 9 years of living in two units.
7. The elevators are consistently broken. This has caused extremely long wait times due to over crowding.
8. Fire drills are frequent. At this time, sometimes middle of the night, you'll be forced to climb down to the lobby. If you have young children you'll be forced to carry them.
9. After monthly fire drills for 9 years, there was never a legitimate fire. But for consistent weeks and months, you'll be jolted awake and forced to climb down stairs from your floor.
10. Packages are put in a locker system. Sometimes you'll get a two day prime shipment but cannot access it until someone puts it in a locker. This turn around can take days and often packages go missing in the process.
